Conn Brown Fishing Pier and Park
The
city of Aransas Pass is surrounded by some of the best fishing available on
the Texas Coast. The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico keep this
bay and wetland system thriving. Conn Brown Harbor Point Park pier offers
fishing access by pier and also several bulkheads. Conn Brown Harbor can be
accessed from Business Hwy 35 or from State Highway 361. If coming from
Padre Island go through Port Aransas and cross to the mainland by the ferry
operated by the State of Texas. It is free of charge and is a short
ride in the off season when traffic is not backed up. During spring
break and peak summer hours the line for the ferry can be fairly long .
Conn Brown Harbor pier is situated to take advantage of the deep channels
connecting to Redfish Bay and the Aransas Channel. Fishing is excellent in
summer evenings and mornings. In the winter the pier is protected from the
North wind and provides access to fish gathered in the deep channels. The
pier is lighted and there is no charge to fish here. This is a well
maintained park with plenty of parking area, boat ramps and fishing access.
The park is a also a good spot to buy live shrimp, perch, mullet and other
baits. If you like to catch your own bait, throwing a cast net can be
productive here also.
