Fishing Port Aransas
Port Aransas and the surrounding waters offer some of the best saltwater
fishing there is. Whether it's wade fishing the flats, surf fishing from the
beach or heading offshore into the Gulf of Mexico, Mustang Island Texas offers
it all.
Wade fishing
The flats at East Flats, South Bay, Redfish Bay,
Lighthouse Lakes have miles of shallow, grassy flats teaming with
Redfish, Speckled Trout, flounder, black drum and the occasional
snapper. The flats are accessible by boat, kayak and vehicle. Wade
fishing offers one of the best fishing experiences in Port Aransas.
Jetty Fishing
The Port Aransas South Jetty and St, Jo's
North Jetty allow fishermen to walking access to fish the Gulf
of Mexico.
Another alternative is Horace Caldwell
Pier at IB Magee Beach in Port Aransas. Sharks, tarpon, Spanish
mackerel, redfish and other species are often caught from these
waters.
Offshore Fishing
Access to the Gulf of Mexico is available
through the Port Aransas Ship Channel. Charter Boats and guides
are available in Port Aransas Recreational boat access is
possible through the Packery Channel jetty that divide Mustang
Island and North Padre Island
